Liquid Resize, a "content aware" image resizing application, was originally developed by the Vienna, Austria based husband-wife team of Ramin Sabet and Irmgard Sabet-Wasinger and is based on the work of Shai Avidan and Ariel Shamir that made its first appearance in a video released at Siggraph 2007.
Features :
Liquid Resize will allow users to resize an image without the traditional geometric limitations while minimizing any distortion that would typically result from changing the original aspect ratio of an image.
Description :
Liquid Resize, also known as re-targeting or content aware image resizing by seam carving/seam removal
So what's Liquid Resizing all about? Wouldn't it be cool to shrink your images without losing information on the main part of the image, but only shrinking the background.
Highlights of the current version include
:: resizing both width and height of images
:: support for shrinking or enlarging images
:: using transparent masks to mark areas the should be protected (i.e. not altered when resizing)
:: using transparent masks to mark areas the should be deleted (i.e. removed when resizing)
:: saving the result and/or the mask (support for Jpg, Gif, Png, Bmp, Tga, Tiff, and Pcx image formats)
Please keep in mind that a lot of processing power is required, so try it with smaller images first!
